Notre Dame Urban Education Center (NDUEC)
The Notre Dame Urban Education Center (NDUEC) provides an extended school day in a safe, nurturing, and drug-free environment through four impactful programs: Early Learning, Homework Plus, Summer Academics, and Family Support. Each program is designed to support underserved children and their families while promoting long-term academic success.
The Early Learning program prepares children ages four to five for kindergarten by building foundational pre-reading, numeracy, and social skills. Serving families from Kenton,

Campbell, and Boone Counties, the program uses an evidence-based curriculum and operates Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. during the academic year (September through May). Its goal is to improve kindergarten readiness and future educational outcomes.
The Homework Plus program supports students in grades K–8 by addressing educational gaps through consistent, one-on-one tutoring. Offered during the academic year on Monday through Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., it combines homework assistance, individualized academic support, and enrichment activities. Volunteers work closely with students to strengthen reading, writing, and math skills, while staff provide engaging experiences such as STEM activities, arts, and critical thinking exercises.
Summer Academics builds on this foundation by providing continued learning opportunities during June. Students receive personalized instruction in math, reading, and English using the Summer Solutions curriculum. Meeting Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with breakfast and lunch provided, this program helps prevent learning loss, reinforces academic skills, and builds confidence and motivation through individualized attention.
The Family Support program extends NDUEC’s impact beyond the classroom by equipping parents with tools to support their children’s success. Through family nights held during the school year, participants enjoy meals, hear from guest speakers, and engage in interactive activities focused on life skills and educational support. These gatherings foster community, strengthen relationships, and empower families to play an active role in their children’s education.
Together, these four programs create a comprehensive approach to student and family development.
Frankies Furry Friends
Frankies Furry Friends was founded in 2010 and is an all-volunteer, all-home foster based small breed dog rescue
based in Northern Kentucky. Frankies’ main focus is giving dogs in our care a second chance. We accept dogs from
overcrowded shelters, puppy mills and owner surrenders. All dogs receive the vet care they need (including
spay/neuter surgery) and are placed in a loving foster home until they are ready for their forever home. Frankies
also has a hospice program and a Senior-to-Senior adoption program. In that program, older dogs are placed with
older adults and Frankies continues to provide support. Hospice dogs are unadoptable and spend what time they
have left with a volunteer in their home.
Frankies is in need of foster homes. We provide training, all materials, vet care and food. You provide patience,
love and the opportunity to be an important part in the dog’s journey to a new, forever home.
